We are delighted to present this exceptionally rare and original vintage poster from the IXe Olympic Games held in Amsterdam in 1928.
The Organizing Committee extended a special invitation to Dutch artists to design the official poster for the 1928 Amsterdam games.
A competition was organized, and the winning design by Rover features an athletic track and field runner, earning the artist five-hundred guilders as a prize. Notably, this is the first official Olympic poster to feature the iconic five rings logo, which can be observed on the flag in the right background, alongside the stadium specially designed for the Olympiad by Jan Wils, complete with its distinctive marathon tower.
While this poster exhibits light fold marks, it has undergone professional linen backing to ensure its preservation. Regarded as the rarest among all pre-World War II Olympic posters, it stands as a unique collectible from this historic event.
