This stunning original vintage airline poster, likely issued by BOAC in 1948, promotes the BOAC Argonaut Speedbird.
The poster features a detailed cutaway rendering of the Argonaut, showcasing travelers relaxing in comfort inside. It highlights various features, including men's dressing rooms, ladies' powder rooms, toilets, and a diplomatic mail locker. The BOAC Argonaut Speedbird was a variant of the Canadair North Star aircraft, operated by British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) in the late 1940s and 1950s. The Argonauts were delivered to BOAC between March and November 1949 and served routes to South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East, operating out of London Heathrow Airport until 1960.
This horizontal gem is in excellent condition, with minor professional restoration at the margin. It has been archivally preserved and mounted on linen.
