This stunning original vintage airline poster was issued by BOAC, likely in 1952, promoting the BOAC Comet, also known as the de Havilland Comet, the first commercial jet-fueled engine plane.
The poster features a cutaway rendering of the Comet, revealing travelers relaxing in comfort inside, while the exterior view shows the aircraft soaring high above the atmosphere.
On 2 May 1952, the de Havilland Comet entered service with BOAC as the first commercial jet airliner, marking a new era in civil aviation and leaving other manufacturers years behind. The aircraft could carry 36 passengers at a cruising speed of 720 km/h (450 mph) over a distance of 4000 km (2500 miles), making BOAC the envy of world airlines with its pioneering jet fleet.
This horizontal gem is in great condition, with minor professional restoration at the margin, archivally preserved and mounted on linen.
