This is a charming, original Swedish travel poster from the 1930s promoting Värmland as a travel destination. Designed by renowned poster artist Hjalmar Thoresson, the poster beautifully depicts a scenic Värmland landscape with a couple dressed in traditional local folk costumes standing before a picturesque view of waterfalls and a lake, most likely Vänern, the largest lake in the region. Värmland is known for its abundant small lakes, ponds, streams, and picturesque scenery, which has inspired many painters and writers.
Sweden boasts roughly 840 traditional folk costumes, including those of the Sami people, with around 550 women's costumes and 290 men's costumes.
This rare travel poster features the German version of the poster. It is mounted on linen and in good condition, showing several signs of age wear. Minor repairs. This piece would look great framed.
