Ångermanland

This lovely authentic poster, designed by Bengt Linnarsson and issued by ATF in 1946, beautifully captures the essence of Ångermanland.

The poster depicts a scenic landscape with a farm in the foreground, the Ångerman river featuring log driving, and dense forests. Adding to its charm is the presence of a Viola tricolor, a common European wildflower, and Ångermanland's Coat of Arms in the lower left corner.

Ångermanland is a historical province in the northern part of Sweden, bordered by Swedish Lapland, Västerbotten, the Gulf of Bothnia, Medelpad, and Jämtland. The name derives from the Old Norse "anger," meaning "deep fjord," referencing the deep mouth of the Ångerman River.
