This is a rare and authentic poster from the 1921 Swedish viewings of Shakespeare's fairy tale play "The Tempest."
Designed by the renowned Isaac Grünewald, the poster depicts a dramatic scene at sea with a ship battling heavy conditions, under ominous red clouds and a striking yellow lightning bolt.
Isaac Grünewald was a pivotal figure in the first generation of Swedish modernists from 1910 until his death in 1946. Throughout his prolific career, he was not only a highly productive painter but also a writer and public speaker. Grünewald created the scenography for Shakespeare's "The Tempest" for Oscar Winge's itinerant theater company, which toured in the fall of 1921.
The poster is in very good condition with some age wear like crumbles and a water stain at lower right. It would look stunning framed on a wall, serving as a captivating piece of theatrical history.
