This is an original vintage poster sheet featuring the iconic three wings coats of arms, representing the first logotype of Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). The emblem incorporates the coats of arms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, each topped with crowns, symbolizing the unity of the three nations within SAS.
The logo was designed by Bengt Rumert, a prominent Swedish art director, advertising illustrator, and painter, who also founded Allmänna Annonsbyrån AB and created one of the first SAS posters.
SAS was founded in 1946 through a collaboration between Det Danske Luftfartselskab A/S (DDL) from Denmark, Det Norske Luftfartselskap A/S (DNL) from Norway, and Svensk Intercontinental Lufttrafik AB (SILA) from Sweden, to pool resources for transatlantic flights.
The specific purpose of this print is uncertain, though it is possible that the three wings were intended to be cut out individually. The poster remains in excellent condition.
