This is an extremely rare original Swedish travel poster from 1937, issued by Dalslands Turisttrafikförening. Designed by Axel Zachrisson, it was the winning entry in a poster competition organized to promote tourism in Dalsland, a region that was especially popular with Danish travelers at the time. The poster was distributed both in Sweden and Denmark, adding to its rarity.
The composition combines expressive natural elements with modernist graphics. A tall, stylized tree on the left stretches into a sky filled with swirling clouds, reminiscent of Nordic expressionism. Below, a tranquil river winds through a hilly landscape, with a stone-arched bridge in the foreground casting rhythmic reflections on the water’s surface.
Cutting across the scenery are two bold arrows, one yellow and one green, pointing toward the mountainous background. These geometric shapes contrast sharply with the organic forms of nature, suggesting movement, direction, and discovery.
At the bottom, large block letters read "RES I DALSLAND" (Travel in Dalsland), with a distinct yellow and black palette anchoring the poster visually. Despite some wear—tears, edge wear, pinholes, and a missing top corner—the poster retains strong aesthetic appeal and would look excellent framed. It's a visually compelling and historically significant piece representing the early 20th-century Swedish travel movement.
