This stunning original Art Deco travel poster by Hans Erik Olsén promotes scenic cruises along Sweden's Göta Canal, one of the country's greatest engineering achievements. The 190 km canal, with 58 locks and 87 km hand-dug, stretches from Sjötorp by Lake Vänern to Mem on the Baltic Sea. The vessel depicted is likely the M/S Juno, launched in 1874 and considered the world’s oldest registered cruise ship. The design exudes the streamlined elegance of 1930s travel promotion and was also featured on the cover of the 1936 Göta Canal travel brochure.
Condition:
Mounted on linen. Some dirt, tape stains, and a repair at the top. Almost good condition overall, with bright colors and strong visual impact.
