A beautiful and atmospheric original vintage travel poster issued in 1963 by the The Tourist Association of Copenhagen and designed by Des Asmussen. The poster captures a festive evening at Tivoli Gardens with colorful fireworks illuminating the sky above the famous entrance gate while crowds gather below in celebration.
Founded in 1843, Tivoli Gardens is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks and remains one of Denmark’s most beloved attractions. The park became internationally famous for its magical atmosphere combining gardens, entertainment, architecture, restaurants, concerts, and rides. Even today Tivoli remains at the heart of Copenhagen’s cultural life and is often regarded as one of the city’s defining landmarks.
The poster wonderfully captures the excitement and glamour of Tivoli at night, using vivid fireworks and glowing lights against the dark blue sky to create a dramatic and highly decorative composition. Tivoli’s famous wooden Roller Coaster from 1914 — one of the oldest operating wooden roller coasters in the world and still using onboard brakemen — reflects the park’s unique blend of history and entertainment.
Printed in rich colors with strong visual appeal, this poster is highly desirable for collectors of Scandinavian travel and amusement park posters. Mounted on linen and in excellent condition. Would look wonderful framed.
