Ocean Liner |
This is a stunning ocean liner poster published by Union Castle Line promoting voyages to East and South Africa. The voyage probably included sailing through the Suez Canal and down the coast of East Africa. The rendering by Maurice Randall depicts a couple standing in front of their charming estate, with a typical South African farmhouse, overlooking the ocean and the four funnel liner ashore.
The steamship is probably Arundel Castle. In the British National Maritime Museum they have a painting of the same ship by Randall. RMS Arundel Castle was a ocean liner and Royal Mail Ship which entered service in 1921 for the Union-Castle Line
Lithograph in colours, condition A-; not backed.
