This stunning vintage airline poster was originally issued by SAS in 1996 to commemorate their 50th Anniversary. Founded on August 1, 1946, SAS Scandinavian Airlines System was the result of a cooperative agreement between three Scandinavian airlines: Svensk Interkontinental Lufttrafik AB, Det Danske Luftfartselskab, and Det Norske Luftfartselskap. With a rich history spanning over five decades, SAS is regarded as one of the world's most notable airlines.
Designed by the duo Anne-Ma Solheim and Trond Nordahl, this poster boasts beautiful and colorful artistic designs that represent the 50th Anniversary and SAS destinations in Norway. Printed as silk-screen prints on high-quality art paper, these posters were exclusively distributed to SAS sales offices in Norway. The poster also features the SVG International Airport Codes, which are the IATA 3-letter codes for airports.
The IATA code SVG is assigned to Stavanger Airport, Sola, which is Norway's oldest airport. It was opened by King Haakon VII on May 29, 1937, and was the second airport in Europe to have a concrete runway.
The glossy silk screen print on heavy-duty art paper captures the beauty and vibrancy of this artwork, making it a must-have for aviation and travel enthusiasts. The fact that these posters were exclusively displayed at SAS sales offices adds to their rarity and historical significance. This vintage airline poster is a wonderful piece of aviation history that celebrates the remarkable legacy of SAS.
