This original Brazil travel poster was issued by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and was most likely printed in the late 1970s. The image features a glamorous beachside scene, characteristic of SAS’s late-1970s destination marketing, emphasizing leisure, warmth, and an aspirational jet-set lifestyle.
The poster dates from the final years of SAS’s earlier aircraft branding. At the time, the airline still used the so-called “dragon” livery, a stylized Viking motif applied to the fuselage. This design was phased out in the early 1980s under the leadership of Jan Carlzon, who felt the dragon evoked outdated or negative Viking stereotypes. It was subsequently replaced by the “Scandinavian Belly Stripes” livery, featuring a clean white fuselage with flag-colored stripes along the lower forward section—one of the most recognizable SAS identities of the modern era.
The poster is in excellent condition, with strong colors and no significant flaws, making it a fine and well-preserved example of late-1970s airline travel advertising.
