This original 1944 St. Moritz Switzerland travel poster, designed by Hugi Laubi (1888–1959), promotes one of Switzerland's most celebrated Alpine resorts and historic centers of winter tourism.
Laubi depicts an elegant couple travelling through the snow in an ornate horse-drawn sleigh. The woman, dressed in a colorful traditional Engadin-style costume, waves cheerfully while her companion, wearing a top hat and sweeping dark cloak, drives the sleigh. The snow-covered mountains of the Engadin provide a dramatic Alpine backdrop, while the famous St. Moritz sun emblem shines above the scene.
The sophisticated figures, vivid colors and romantic winter setting capture the glamorous image of St. Moritz as an international winter destination. A beautiful example of mid-century Swiss travel poster design. Printed in Zürich by J. C. Müller AG, as credited on the poster.
Condition: Mounted on linen. Flattened creases and crumpling along the margins. In good condition overall.
