This is a great Irish airline poster by Piet Sluis promoting air travel to Rome with Aer Lingus. The Dutch artist Piet Sluis was born in 1929 and came to Ireland in the 1950s when he had a distinguished career as a graphic designer.
The poster depicts a stylistic rendering of the Swiss Guard in front of Vatican City in Rome.
The Swiss Guard is usually described as the smallest army in the world. The guards in this army are not associated with the Swiss armed forces. From ancient times, these Swiss Guards have been providing protection covers to European royals and other renowned personalities.
Great colors and in excellent condition, ready to frame and go on the wall!
