This is a stunning original authentic advertising poster issued to promote a 1937 June Culture Festival at Gripsholm Castle "Vasaborgen", Sweden. A "Big Folk Culture Festival 19-20 June 1937 containing Historical Festival Play, Exhibitions, Concerts, Equestrian Games, Etc.
A wonderful design by Albin Amelin depicting a great rendering of the open space behind the fortification.
Albin Amelin (1902-1975) entered the Swedish art scene through an exhibition at the Stockholm gallery Swedish-French Gallery (Svensk-Franska galleriet) in 1929.
Since Gustav Vasa, Gripsholm has belonged to the Swedish Royal Family and was used as one of their residences until the 18th century. It is now a museum, but is still considered to be a palace at the disposal of the King and as such it is part of the Crown palaces in Sweden.
In very good condition. Mounted on linen, restored tears and losses in corners, restored tears bottom edge, tear bottom right edge, tear center of left edge.
