A Swedish travel poster from the time depicting a Maypole (Majstång/Midsommarstång). This very typical for Dalarna, Sweden. In Sweden and Swedish speaking parts of Finland, the maypole is usually called a midsummer pole, midsommarstång, as it appears at the Midsummer celebrations, although the literal translation majstång also occurs, were the word maj refers to the old Swedish word maja which means dress and not to the month of May.
David Tägtström is a well known Swedish painter, also known for some portraits of the Swedish Royal Family.
